CFS2/FS2002/FS2004 Ryan FR-1 Fireball
==========================================
Service variant of the Fireball. This model has full squadron paint scheme and warload for CFS2. The aircraft was a mixed power twin engine radial/jet fighter bomber but came along as jet only aircraft were finding favour within the US military. WWII was almost over by the time it entered service. Only 100 planes became operational with the US Navy. They flew on board VS-21.
The origin of VS-21 can be traced back to 26 March 1945 when Carrier Escort Air Group FOUR ONE (CVEG-41) was established at NAS San Point, Washington. Comprised of Fighter Squadron 41 (VF-41) and Torpedo Squadron 41 (VT-41), CVEG-41 employed the Ryan FR-1 Fireball and TBM-3E Avenger, respectively. On 15 November 1946, both VF-41 and VT-41 established the new Carrier Escort Air Group ONE (CVEG-1) and were re-designated as Fighter Squadron 1 Escort (VF-1E) and Attack Squadron 1 Escort (VA-1E). Together, they formed the first of three air groups specifically established to conduct hunter-killer" ASW operations. On 12 December 1946, while assigned to CVEG-1, the tail code "BS" (callsign Beef Steak) was used by VS-21 and remains its callsign today.

Installation:
==============
-Installation in CFS2:
Unzip " RYAN FIREBALL" into a temporary file and move the "RYAN FIREBALL" folder into the main CFS2\Aircraft directory. You don't need the FS 2002 install file.
-Copy the jet_throttle.gau,jet-rpm.gau and the CGS2GPS.gau into your gauges folder.
-Please read the text in "Warload.zip" explaining how to add the drop tank.

-Installation in FS2002/FS2004:
Unzip " RYAN FIREBALL" into a temporary file and move the "RYAN FIREBALL" folder into the main FS2002\Aircraft directory.
-Copy the jet-throttle.gau and the jet-rpm.gau into your gauges folder.
-From the FS2002 install file :
Replace the the panel.cfg (in the panel folder in the RYAN FIREBALL FS2002\Aircraft directory). Let it overwrite the original one.
For FS 2002 you needn't copy the CDP and Dp files.
For FS2004 use the same action as for FS2002.
REMEMBER : This model is very heavy on your graphics and takes time to load !

Flying the model
================
You have a very powerful two engined fighter plane !
Don't forget to take the time to start both engines.
Be especially careful on take off as the machine has a pronounced swing to the left. Go slowly with the throttle and add rudder (this also turns the front wheel when pushing the stick slightly forward) to keep it straight.
With full warload it is nose heavy and rather unstable longitudinally . Use of the trim or autopilot is highly recommended.
It uses the default CFS2 weapons controls.

This project is released as freeware. You may modify it and repaint it. I include a palet.bmp for you to use the simple Microsoft paint program to change the colors of the plane. You may upload this file to another website as long as it is not for profit. You need the written permission of the original authors to use any of these files for commercial purposes, otherwise a simple credit would be nice. This file should not cause problems with your computer, but I accept no responsibility if you think it does.
Special thanks to Ian Lawrence for a nice original model and for his permission to adapt the plane to CFS2.

Happy Landings!! Ground or Carrier!!
